Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Dora Ida White Curtis, 96, passed away on January 30, 2013 at her home.

She was born on December 21, 1916 on a homestead near Pella, Idaho; a daughter of Thomas and Ida Smith White. The third of eight children, Dora grew up in Clearfield, Utah and graduated from Davis High School. She graduated from Weber College with an associate''s degree in business and minor in music. After working two years in Los Angeles, she served an LDS Mission in the Eastern States. At the outbreak of World War II she married Warren Dale Curtis in the Salt Lake Temple on April 24, 1942. Two of their four children were born while he served as a wartime officer in the South Pacific. They raised their family in Salt Lake City and California and finally settled in Washington Terrace, Utah in 1972.

After Warren''s death in 1986, Dora started working at the IRS where she continued for 23 years, until age 93. She was a talented speaker and won many speech contests with the Toastmasters Speaking Club. She had a lifetime passion for music. She sang with the Wasatch Master Chorale community choir in Ogden for 35 years as well as teaching piano for over 70 years until she was 95.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dora held many callings as music chairman, choir director, organist, and positions in the Young Women''s Program.

Dora was devoted to her family and encouraged, supported and motivated them in their many activities. She is survived by her sons, Howard Curtis of Ogden, Lynn (Sandy) Curtis of Coalville, and Dean (Julie) Curtis of Ogden; daughter, Ruth (Steve) Brunker of Huntsville, and sisters, Idella Graham of West Jordan, Donna Sedgwick of Syracuse, and Irma Sabol of West Jordan; 21 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren so far.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; parents; brothers, Arthur and Frank; and sisters, Alice and Nellie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace 10th Ward, 125 East 5350 South, Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Kaysville Cemetery.
