Dora Gallegos
August 12, 1940 ~ December 22, 2018
Our loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Dora Gallegos passed away peacefully on December 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at the young age of 78.
She was born August 12, 1940 in Brazos, New Mexico, to Rumaldo and Benerita Archuleta.
She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic High School in Ogden, Utah, in 1958, and attended Weber State College.
She married her best friend and soulmate Lupe Gallegos at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah, on June 24, 1961, and just last summer celebrated 57 unforgettable years together.
Mom retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1993, as a Quality Assurance Specialist. She worked at JCPenney in Ogden for ten years, then went on to become a Spanish translator in the Ogden School District. She worked for Mt. Ogden Middle School as a counselor’s aide, using her bilingual abilities.
Mom was a devout Catholic and loved decorating for Christmas. She also loved to cook, make enchiladas, crochet and her rose bushes.
Her pride and joy were her 5 grandchildren and she was affectionately known as Nawnee. Nawnee never missed any of their sporting events and was known to many as “Way to go grandma”. Her life was a living example of how grandmothers cherish their grandkids.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Lupe Gallegos, son Eric (Tammy), and daughter Yvette (Mike) Laughter, and five adoring grandchildren: Sarah, Garrett, Meghan, Dalton and Derek. Also surviving are three brothers, Oliver (Carol) Archuleta, Rumaldo (Katie) Archuleta, Robert (Denise) Archuleta and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Fred Archuleta and baby sister Juanita Beatrice Archuleta.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Generations staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living and CNS Hospice for their genuine care, kindness and professionalism in taking such great care of our mother.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil and Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Interment, West Point Cemetery.
Dora, you will never know the impact you had on our lives, you will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts. I loved you then, I love you now, I’ll love you always and forever, Lupe.
