Doreen Hedin Hardy was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world unexpectedly on January 5, 2023 surrounded by family at the age of 94.
Doreen was born in Ogden, Utah on January 16,1928, the only daughter of Earl Clifford and Lydia Meier Hedin. Doreen was the oldest of three and was so excited when her brothers Duane and Ron were born. She was a perfect big sister and always had a close relationship with them. They had a very close family and spent a lot of time with extended family and cousins, who felt more like siblings.
She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1937 and continued to be a faithful member throughout her life.
Doreen loved school. She was smart, funny, creative and put her whole heart into everything she did. Throughout high school she got all A’s. She loved participating in activities and clubs. She was so proud that she was able to be part of the Ogden High School Pep Club. She loved performing and stayed after school all the time decorating for dances. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1946.
When Doreen was nine years old she met Jack and instantly had a huge crush from that moment on. He went into the Army when she was 13 and she wrote him letters until he returned. After he returned, he told her he “waited a long time for her to grow up,” and were inseparable since.
On November 17,1946 she married the love of her life Jack C. Hardy in Ogden, Utah and was sealed for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Utah Temple several years later after Jack passed away.
She is survived by her son, David of Dunedin, Florida; daughter Jone Baker of Logan, Utah; her 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
We’d like to thank Birch Creek Assisted Living Center for their amazing care and making Doreen part of their family. She treasured all of her sweet friends she made there. She always said that she didn’t deserve where she lived and couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend her last years.
