Doris Isom

DORIS G. ISOM

1923-2018

Doris G. Isom, passed away on May 24, 2018, at 94 years of age.  She was born on June 3, 1923, in Camden, New Jersey, to parents David William Garraway and Emma Jane Boehner Garraway

Doris served for four years in the United States Navy. While in the service she met her husband, Nolen John Isom. They were married on November 7, 1945 in Camden, New Jersey both proudly wearing their military uniforms.

After serving in the Navy she attended the Cosmetology School for Hairdressers in Los Angeles, CA.  She also worked as a Student Advisor at Hurricane High School and later was employed by ZCMI.  She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hats Society of which she served as Queen Mother.  Doris was an active member of the LDS Church.

She is survived by her two sons David (Pauline) Isom, and Nolen (Terry) Isom and her former daughter-in-law who she considered her to be her daughter, Becky Isom; 8 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her husband, an infant twin son, Norman, 4 sisters and one brother.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 at Copper Hills 2nd Ward Chapel, 5176 W. Parr Drive, West Jordan, UT. 84081, where family and friends may visit from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, UT 84065.
