Doris Jacobs

LAYTON, Doris Johnson Jacobs passed away Friday, November 27 2015 surrounded by her family.  She was born in Huntington, Utah, August 15, 1926 to Evan Myron Johnson and Alice Guymon Johnson.

She attended Huntington Elementary, North Emery High School, and graduated from Davis High School in 1944.

She married Donald S. Jacobs in Preston, Idaho.  The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Donald and Doris had four daughters, Diane (Bart-deceased) Cutler, Dawna (David) Burton, Susan (Grant) Williams, and Nancy (Greg) Marigoni.

Because of Donald’s work, the family had the privilege of living in Okinawa, Japan and Bitburg, Germany.  They traveled to many countries as a family.

Doris worked at the Naval Supply Depot, Clearfield; Kadena Air Force Base (Okinawa), and Hill Air Force Base.  When Donald and Doris retired they spent six months a year in Layton, Utah, and six months in Yuma, Arizona.

She was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many positions- Primary teacher and President; MIA secretary and teacher; Sunday School Secretary in both ward and stake; Relief Society visiting teacher, counselor, secretary and teacher.  She worked in the Ogden Temple.  She had the privilege of serving two missions: Missouri Independence Mission where she worked in the Visitors Center; and Santa Rosa, California, where she worked in the Mission Office.

In 2005 she sold her home in Layton and moved to Country Pines Retirement Center in Clinton.

Doris is survived by her four daughters, 23 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Jerry A. (Karen) Johnson.  She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald S. Jacobs; her brother Val M. (Orlee) Johnson, and her grandson, Brandon Lee Hill.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Rd.  Friends may visit with family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Country Pines for their loving care of Doris over the past ten years.  A special thanks to Marcia Nielson and other workers from Horizon Health Care for their caring and loving of our mother.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS Missionary Fund, Mom’s favorite donation. She loved and supported many missionaries in serving the Lord.
