Dorotha Hazle Green Walker

KAYSVILLE, UTAH - Dorotha Hazle Green Walker passed away in her home peacefully on Saturday, May 12, 2007, to join Verl, her sweetheart and companion of 70 years, who preceded her in death only 23 days earlier on April 19. Lovingly referred to as "Dot" by many, she will be sorely missed by all who were beneficiaries of her love and kindness.

Dorotha was born to William Lorenzo Green and Dora Amanda Taylor in Menan, Idaho on July 5, 1919. She married Verl A. Walker on December 15, 1937, in the Salt Lake Temple. Dorotha is survived by her daughters Dawn (David) Naylor, Julia (Craig) Fisher, and Reva (Craig) Taylor; 22 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and her sister Opal (Dale) Walker.

Raised an Idaho farm girl who came through the Great Depression, Dorotha led a very colorful life. She was the wind beneath her husband Verl''s wings who led a distinguished career in the Food Business.A  Verl always attributed his success to Dorotha''s constant, unfailing support. Besides being a very devoted mother, she obtained her pilot''s license and earned three college degrees, in Nursing, Communications, and Theater. She participated in many musical and theatrical productions over the years, was a prolific writer, and performed many of her own readings, including the life of Eliza R. Snow and a humorous perspective on life growing up on the farm. She was honored by the Governor of the State of Utah for her literary accomplishments.

Dorotha led a life of quiet service, unselfishly giving thousands of hours of her time over many years, nursing and caring for others, usually without anyone knowing but the person for whom she was providing the care. Dorotha never spoke ill of anyone nor raised her voice in anger. She will be remembered for her delicious homemade pies, fall canning, her skill as an expert seamstress, working in her gardens, sitting in her favorite chair snuggling a new baby into her neck, hot cocoa in grandma''s camper, and her little chuckle when she knew something you didn''t. Over the past fifteen years, she demonstrated great fortitude and courage in the face of numerous major strokes and other severe health problems.

Dorotha was an active member of the Kaysville Eighth Ward.A  She was a very spiritual woman who taught by example the Savior''s precept, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these." Thank you for raising us in the Church, Mama.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19th, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kaysville Rock Chapel located at 200 East Center Street.
