Dorothy J. Alvey (Poulson)
02/14/1936 - 11/20/2021
Our beautiful Wife and Mother returned to the open arms of her loved ones in Heaven on Saturday, November 20, 2021. She was surrounded by her family whom she loved with all her heart.
Dorothy was married to her Sweetheart, Sherrill D. Alvey, at the tender age of 16. They lived a Happy and successful life, raising five children.
She leaves behind her husband of 69 years, five children and their spouses, 13 grandchildren and spouses and 12 great grandchildren.
Sherrill and Dorothy have lived in Layton for the past 50 years and are a beloved part of their community.
One of her passions was working on Genealogical records for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Over the years, Dorothy helped to process almost 750,000 records.
She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was proud of her Pioneer heritage.
Dorothy graduated from sewing school with a certificate as a “Master Seamstress.” She spent many hours and long nights sewing everything from wedding and choir dresses to cheerleading costumes. She also retired from Davis County after working 20 years for the Recorders Office.
Dorothy’s body may have been tiny and frail, but her mind and soul were absolutely fierce and mighty. She was one sassy gal and will be greatly missed until we are reunited again with her at the First Resurrection.
“We LOVE you, Mom!”
