Dorothy Rhees Anderson
March 17, 1920 ~ May 17, 2015
“Together Again”
Dorothy Rhees Anderson passed away as the Lord promised her, quietly in her sleep, on May 17, 2015. She was born on March 17, 1920 in Pleasant View, Utah to George H. and Oles Taylor Rhees. She graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber College and BYU.
She worked prior to having children and then again briefly when they were raised. Her greatest work was being our mother and hero.
Dorothy was married to Judge L. Roland Anderson on April 20, 1948 In the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They resided in Pleasant View, St. George, and Ogden, Utah. Her husband preceded her in death in 2001.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many ward and stake positions, including 25 years in the MIA. Dorothy and Roland served as missionaries in the Raleigh, North Carolina Mission from 1986 to 1987.
Dorothy was an excellent seamstress and served many years in the 4-H as an instructor and judge in county and state fair competitions.
She served on the Children’s Aid Board and was an officer for the Weber County Bar Auxiliary.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing, reading, and anything creative. She loved making appliqué quilts and made over 100 quilts.
She was loved by all who met her. She had an infectious laugh and loved to serve anyone in need. She was an excellent cook, passing this skill to her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her three sons, L. Boyd Anderson, Ogden; Craig R. (LeAnne) Anderson, Layton; and Scott R. (Shellie) Anderson, Pleasant View; two daughters, Marsha (Bruce) Haynes, South Jordan; and Patrice (Clark) Combe, Ogden; 25 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, La Rene (Philip) Taylor, Provo; and one brother, Gary (Anne) Rhees, Pleasant View. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Bruce R. Anderson; her brother, Mark C. Rhees; and her sister, Beth (Kent) Payne.
Her family would like to thank Tammy from Essential Care and all of the loving caregivers from Brighton Hospice who made it possible for her to stay in her home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
