Dorothy Jean Beck Arndt

May 16, 1931 ~ October 6, 2016

Dorothy Jean Arndt passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the age of 85 in Clearfield, Utah. She was born on May 16, 1931 in Longview, Texas to Jesse and Mamie Beck. She was the third of eight children. She flourished and graduated high school in Gladewater, Texas.

Dorothy married Gale (Bill) William Arndt on February 11, 1953 and sealed their marriage for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 12, 1963.

She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings including, Temple Ordinance Worker, Relief Society Presidencies, Primary, and Cub Scout den leader.

Her professional career in Retail Management lead to a successful retirement with the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES).

Dorothy’s talented accomplishments, other than being an amazing mother and grandmother, were in oil painting and cake decorating. She enjoyed traveling, music, singing and sewing. She cherished her husband “Willy” and five children, 23 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded by her husband, “Bill”, parents, two brothers, one sister, and one grandchild. She is survived by her loving children, Sharon Hinson, Steve (Cindy) Arndt, Dick (Amber) Arndt, Bess (Calvin) Kendall, Lori (William) Snegirev, two brothers,  Homer and  Edward Beck, two sisters, Louise Causey and Faye Hearne.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Lincoln LDS Ward, 590 West Antelope Dr, Layton Utah. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Rd. and Tuesday from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at the church.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Thatcher Brooke staff, for their care of our mother.

Interment will be at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, Ogden, Utah.
