LAYTON a€" Dorothy Elizabeth (Bess) McConnell Biesecker, 86, died on Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the home of her son.

She was born January 9, 1922, the second daughter of Louis Elbert and Dorothy Roberts McConnell in Oklahoma City, OK. She was also parented by her stepmother Pauline Hodges McConnell.

Dorothy graduated from high school. She also completed radio technical school and cosmetology training.

She married Jay McClellan Biesecker on February 26, 1943 in Meridian, Mississippi. Jay and Dorothy and their family moved to Utah from Pennsylvania in 1965. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Bountiful, Utah.

Dorothy and Jay spent many happy hours gardening and preserving the fruits of their labor. The favorite part of her gardening efforts were her many much loved rose bushes.

Surviving are one son and two daughters: Jerry L (Thuy) Biesecker and Dorothy F. (Stephen) Wilhelmsen, all of Layton; and Paula K (Abe W.) Nickerson, Farmington, NM; grandchildren Calvin H. (Amy), Chinna Th., Jay K., Jesse L. Biesecker, Adrian L. (Wendy) Wilhelmsen, Dorothy Crystal Dowdy, Abe P. and Cortney N. Nickerson; and seven beautiful great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother and one sister, C. Bernard McConnell, Belfry, MT and Ann M. (Joe) Huggins, McArthur, CA.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, stepmother and sister Mary L. Howard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 2 p.m.at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road with Pastor John Mayer officiating. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden, UT.
