Dorothy Ann Johnson Carter

OGDEN - Our loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Friend and Aunt fulfilled her earthly mission on Monday, June 28, 2010.

She was born February 22, 1931 in her home in Clear Creek (Naf), Idaho to Lucinda Campbell and Knute Vern Johnson. They later moved to Ogden. She graduated from Ogden High in 1949.

Dorothy married David Carter and had three children Cheryl, Vern, and Lori. They later divorced. She married her devoted husband Lyle in 1972.

She worked for the IRS for 29 years.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She lived a life of beauty and grace. She valiantly fought ovarian cancer for fifteen years and never became discouraged. Dorothy was strong and brave. Traveling was one of her great passions as she attended the Barcelona Spain Summer Olympics.

Her legacy includes her loving husband Lyle, her children Cheryl Carter Fernandez (Kurt) Engelke of Santa Fe New Mexico; David Vern Carter of Ogden; and Lori Carter Barney Dalaba of Santa Fe New Mexico; ten grandchildren, Deidre, Ryan, Jeremie, Donavan, Andrina, Jennifer (Robert), Jamie, Steven, Marquelle, Fred Levi and special adopted grandchildren, Brandon, Ariel and Skyla; 23 great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Kiersha, Raymi, and Macaela, and countless others she loved as her own.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Edna Cage and her brother James "Jim" Johnson and her beloved relatives who greeted her and helped her to the other side.

Dorothy always made time for those she loved and no one ever left her side without a smile on their face and warm feeling in their heart. She could never turn anyone in need away, this included animals as she had a soft spot for cats. Dot was especially proud of her family and enjoyed chatting about their many accomplishments. She will always be remembered as a loving accepting woman. Dorothy was a mother and grandmother to everyone.

To all the relatives we may have missed; you have not been forgotten.

Special thanks to all her caring angels at McKay-Dee, Dr. Hansen''s Oncology Department, Life Path Hospice and friends.
