Dorothy Ilene Don Carter
OGDEN a" Dorothy Ilene Don Carter, 90, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Legacy House Assisted Living, in Ogden, Utah.
Dorothy was born December 5, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Raymond and Sarah Louise B. Don. She married Boyer Austin Carter on April 24, 1937 in Coalville, Utah. Dorothy and Boyer had been married for over 71 years at the time of his death.
Dorothy graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City. She worked at several different jobs through the years, finishing her working career as a personnel clerk at Hill Air Force Base, where she worked for 12 years. She left the base in January of 1978 to enjoy retirement with her husband on the open road. Dorothy and Boyer raised their family in Kaysville. Dorothy was active in the Kaysville Civic Association and the PTA. Mostly, she was a devoted wife and mother. She loved to dance, play golf and spend time with her family in the great outdoors.
Dorothy is survived by her son, J. Scott Carter (Janis), Layton; daughter-in-law, Gay Carter, Kaysville; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Don A. Carter, daughter, Sharon Lee Carter, sisters, Eudora and Janyce and brothers, Homer and Robert.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30 to10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank Legacy House and Alpine Home Care & Hospice for the loving care and kindness they showed Dorothy in her final weeks and days.
