Dorothy Longhurst Christensen, 84, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at her home.
Dorothy was born May 19, 1928 to Philip Alberto and Anna Magdeline Bolander Longhurst. She married Joseph Cleon Christensen in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 19, 1947.
She grew up in Idaho and moved to Salmon after her marriage where their first child was born. Thereafter they lived in various locations including Kaysville before settling in Fruit Heights where they lived the remainder of their lives.
Dorothy was active in the LDS Church and temple, genealogy and church work were important to her. She enjoyed gardening and music, especially singing. She obtained her HAM radio license (KC7HMN) when she was in her late 60s so she could talk to other licensed family members.
She is survived by two brothers and four children, Joseph Rodney (Patti) Christensen, Starli (Dale) Taft, Trevor John (Sharalyn) Christensen, Chadley McFarland, 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cleon Christensen, son, David Connell Christensen, daughter-in-law, Joelene Christensen, her parents, three brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Fruit Heights Stake Center, 170 N. Mountain Rd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main, and Thursday at the church from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
