Dorothy Mary Hadley Cole

OGDEN - Having lived a very full life, our loving mother, sister, grandma, and great-grandma passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in her home, surrounded by her daughters, on Saturday, August 29, 2009.

She was born in Kanesville, Utah, on October 9, 1917, to Alonzo and Iretta Butler Hadley. After graduating from Weber High School and Weber Beauty School, she married Edward Wayne Cole on September 1, 1938, in the Salt Lake Temple.

Dorothy lived a life of service, doing all she could to help others, whether it was making a meal, taking care of someone who was home bound or volunteering. The touch of her hand was a comfort to everyone that knew her. Wherever she went, she left the world a better place. She was a wonderful example to her family, and her family was the most important thing in the world to her.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had a strong testimony of Heavenly Father''s plan and shared her time, talents and knowledge of the gospel in all that she did. She always said, "The Lord has a good plan, we just need to live it". She served as Relief Society President, Primary counselor, MIA President, and counselor in the Stake Relief Society, and in many organizations, actively serving in the Altrusa Club, Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and Litra Chimes. She was an accomplished beautician who enjoyed doing hair in and out of her home for over 50 years.

Dorothy and her husband loved to dance and belonged to many dance clubs. Dorothy and Wayne took their family to live in Chateauroux France, for 2 years, and they traveled all over Europe. When they returned home, they continued to travel the world, enjoying the experience of different cultures and making many lifelong friends.

She is survived by her five daughters; Barbara (Mike) Navidomskis, Roy; Marlene Lewellyn, Ogden; Janeen (Richard) Gooch, West Haven; Susan (Randy) Hollis, Roy; and LaWane (John) Boltz, Bountiful; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Roland Hadley, June Heiser, Joan Schultz and Gordon Hadley.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, E. Wayne Cole, and by her siblings, Alonzo Jr., Marvin, Carl and Dean Hadley, Gladys Gibson and Irene Peek.

The family would like to thank Alpine Home Care and Hospice for their service to our family. We would especially like to thank Carly Hurst for the loving and tender care she gave to our mother.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
