OGDEN a€" Dorothy R. Maeda, 94, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 in California.

She was born August 8, 1916 in Seattle, Washington, to Utaro Sugihara and Masu Yonezawa.

Dorothy married Frank S. Maeda and at the beginning of World War II, she and Frank were interned at camp Minidoka, Idaho. Her only son Richard was born there.

After working for 20 plus years at Sears, she retired.

Dudie loved her retirement traveling with her family, playing cards and bowling. She also volunteered at St. Benedict''s (Ogden Regional Medical Center) for 25 years.

Surviving are her son Richard (Nellie), Chino, CA; sister Frances (Frank) Nomura, Las Vegas, NV; stepdaughter Grace Sakaguchi, Simi Valley, CA.; many nieces, nephews, and very special friends Donna Russell and Sharon Hood.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and siblings, George Sugihara, Ruth Yemoto, Martha Hamada and Harry Sugihara.

The family would like to thank Dr. Dee B. Lim, the staffs at Pomona Valley, Chino Valley, Montclair Hospitals, and Inland Valley Care & Rehab Center for their care and compassion.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 9 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary from 8 to 8:45 a.m.

Inurnment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
