Dorothy Marie Voorhies Ellwanger

Clearfield - Dorothy Marie Voorhies Ellwanger, age 86, passed away January 11, 2014 in Murray, Utah.

She was born September 13, 1927 to Walter Bowman and Anna Marie Gandy Voorhies in Dallas, Texas.

Dorothy married Henry Jacob Ellwanger on October 15, 1946 in Sausalito, Alameda County, California.

She lived in Florida, moved to Grover City, California, married and moved to the state of Nebraska 1977 and they moved to Clearfield, UT.

Dorothy was a Christian and her family was very important to her.

Hobbies included: roller skating/ Jitterbug Club, gardening, loved playing games, crocheting, and loved playing practical jokes.

She is survived by her son, Jacob Ray (Connie) Ellwanger, Scottsbluff, NB; daughters, Frances Elnore Ellwanger, Roy, UT; Dora Marie Maw, Farr West; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother Chuck (Joyce) Voorhies, Chataney, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents and step-father (Clifford Burks), husband, Henry J. Ellwanger, three sisters, Josephine Toponce, Kate Frances Roles, Louise Traves, half brother, Wallace Voorhies, son-in-law, Robert W. Maw, and niece, Cherie Welch.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
