Dorothy Ellen Binkley Fisk
March 26, 1934 ~ August 5, 2016
Dorothy Ellen Binkley Fisk passed away on August 5, 2016 in Ogden, Utah. Dorothy arrived in this world on March 26, 1934, in Cheyenne Wells, Colorado, in the height of the depression and the dust bowl era. She was the daughter of Charles Binkley and Lieta Bartels. At the age of 3 the family moved to Florissant, Colorado where she lived until she was 13 years of age, when they relocated to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. In 1953 she married Earl Fisk and lived in Grand Junction, Colorado. While in Grand Junction, Dorothy had four children, Norman, Richard, Daniel and Bruce. Her first-born son, Norman, died at the age of 2 from leukemia. The family later moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1966. In 1970 the family relocated to the Ogden Utah area. Dorothy graduated from Weber State College in 1972 with a Bachelor’s degree and started working toward her Masters Degree.
Dorothy was compassionate, kind, patient, and understanding, this was exemplified in her career of choice which was teaching juveniles at the correctional facilities of the State Industrial School and later the Millcreek Youth Development Center from 1972 until retirement in 1997.
Dorothy enjoyed crafts and sewing and was very gifted at them. She had a home business for making stuffed animals.
Dorothy had many health issues at the end of her life and she faced them with integrity and heart. Her caregivers always noted her kindness, sense of humor, and smile in the wake of her suffering.
Her parents and her first son, Norman preceded her in death.
She will be missed by her brother, Virgil Binkley; three sons, Richard, Bruce and Daniel; and her four cousins, Duane, Ralph, Judy, and Joy; and her former spouse, Earl.
A Memorial service will be held on September 7, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Internment of Dorothy’s ashes will be conducted at a private service.
