Dorothy Deloris Warrick Hansen

Dorothy Deloris Warrick Hansen of Kaysville, Utah, passed away June 16, 2015 at Barton Creek Assisted Living in Bountiful, Utah.

Born October 11, 1924 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Lillian Rebecca Swoyer and Russel Warrick.

Survived by five children: Grant K. (Gayle) Hansen of Moab, UT; Shauna (Richard) Dalley of Salt Lake City, UT; Scott Hansen of West Valley, UT; Tammy (Steve) Ashton of Canton, GA; and Steven (Angie) Hansen of Vernal, UT. She has 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She had one brother, Clyde Russel Warrick, who preceded her in death. Her husband of 66 years, Grant K. Hansen, also preceded her in death.

She lived most of her childhood in Bangor, PA, where she graduated from high school in June of 1942, just six months after the U.S. declared war on Japan. She was involved in the war effort by working for a shirt factory where they made army shirts, and then at a defense plant where they were experimenting making stainless steel planes. While working in Atlantic City, she met a sailor named Grant K. Hansen, who was the love of her life and she married on April 15, 1945, in Bangor, PA. Later their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Salt Lake City, and then eventually to Kaysville, where they lived for nearly 60 years, making life-long friends she always cherished. In 1967 her husband asked if she would move with him to Taiwan for two years. To leave all of her friends and extended family was very distressing, but she did not feel she had the right to hold him back; so off she went with her immediate family to the Orient. It was an experience the entire family would always cherish.

She spent her life serving, first her family and then her church. She was her children’s best friend. Whenever they had a problem, they knew she would listen and understand and be there for them. She was a quiet woman with a wonderful sense of humor. To know her was to love her.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various capacities. She loved the Lord and tried to show that love in the everyday things she did. Mom we love you and will miss you!
