Dorothy May Forsgren King 5/24/1931 ~ 11/22/2013
Our beloved mother and devoted grandmother, Dorothy May Forsgren King, 82, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 at Utah Valley Specialty Hospital. She was born on May 24, 1931 in Bothwell, Utah to Vivian Vincent Forsgren and Cathleen Marie Quiney Steel. She grew up in the Bothwell, Box Elder County area as well as Clifton, Idaho.
She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Among her many callings, serving as the Blazer B teacher was her favorite.
Dorothy worked as a Therapy Aid at the CNYDSO before retiring. During that time she ran an Activty Center where she taught Arts & Crafts along with vocational skills.
Dorothy attended the New York State School of Cosmetology and the Alfred State College of Cosmetology, becoming a licensed beautician. She owned and operated Dottie''s Beauty Salon in New York. She was a member of the Women''s of the Moose.
Dorothy loved to travel and traveled the world living in Guam, New York where she raised her family as well as Florida before returning to Utah. Dorothy never took the same road twice if she could help it.
She loved art and music, and was creative in her hobbies. Sewing, quilting, any type of crafts, wood working and painting; there wasn''t anything Dorothy wouldn''t learn and she loved to build and fix things.
Family meant everything to Dorothy and she always put them before herself. She was the consummate caregiver who found fulfillment in caring for others, putting their needs above all else. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Garr William Welker, Jr. and Robert Lee (Susan A.) Welker; daughter, Cindy L. King; 5 grandchildren, Marcus (Melissa) Welker, Alan (Meghan) Welker, Brian (Lara) Welker, Christopher (Kristi) Welker, and Rachel (Chris) Sudweeks; 12 great-grandchildren, and brothers, Wendell (Donna) Forsgren, Judd (Nona) Forsgren, Don (Deann) Forsgren, and Jim Forsgren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Michael Gordon Welker; daughter-in-law, Paula Welker; grandson, Garr William Welker III; granddaughter, Andrea Maria Welker; brothers, Charles Forsgren, Richard Forsgren, Robert Forsgren, Jack Forsgren, and Bill (Nora) Lewis; and sisters, Hazel Tolman, Erma Gillihan, and Faye Henderson. In addition to a special friend Robert L. Evans with whom Dorothy maintained a special relationship with his granddaughter Sarah Evans-Dubbs.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Bothwell Cemetery.
