Dorothy Marie Christiansen Larsen
CLEARFIELD a" Heavenly Father has welcomed Dorothy Larsen back into His fold on Saturday, December 12, 2009. Her body succumbed to pneumonia and causes incident to age at Davis Hospital and Medical Center in Layton.
Dorothy had just celebrated her 76th birthday on December 4. She was born in Mount Pleasant, Utah in 1933, the third child and first daughter to Elmer Nels Christiansen and Marie Kjerstine Jorgensen. She had three brothers and two sisters.
Dorothy attended school in Mount Pleasant and graduated from North Sanpete High School with the Class of 1952. She moved from Mount Pleasant to Ogden right after high school and worked for KeeBee Stores and Gateway Distributing. A few years later her family moved to Ogden and Dorothy helped find a house to rent, got Christmas for the kids and registered them in school, and found a house for them to buy at 1465 E. 26th Street. She attended Weber State College with studies in English and Accounting.
She met Don Stephensen Larsen on a blind date in 1960. They were married in the Logan LDS Temple on January 18, 1961. They were blessed with three children.
Dorothy loved to be at home, enjoying time with her family, reading, crocheting, knitting, or solving the daily crossword and other puzzles. She was always giving of herself and made sure others were well taken care of. She also was known for her witty and funny comments, catching everyone off guard, making them stop and think. She loved family and everything she did was for her family.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings.
Dorothy worked at Hill Air Force Base and the Internal Revenue Service in civil service from 1963 to 1997, and retired as a seasonal tax examiner. She loved being seasonal as she could furlough to be with her family more every year.
Dorothy is survived by her three children, April Marie (Richard) Armstrong, Plain City; Lisa Dawn Larsen, West Valley City; George Kristian (Elizabeth) Larsen, Ogden; 11 grandchildren, Lynn Marie, John Stephensen, Kjerstina Dawn, Kemmberli Anne, Alan Richard, Jordan Fredrick, Jakob Melvin, Brennan Scott Armstrong; David Stephensen, Thomas Caleb, and Benjamin Ray Larsen; and four great-grandchildren, Serenity Marie, Stephen John, Drakken Wayne, and Kammbri Anna.
Also surviving are two sisters, Carolyn (Gene) White, Tooele, UT; Mary Jane Kupfer who just returned to Layton from Massachusetts; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Dean (Leon) Christiansen, San Juan Capistrano, CA; and Patricia Robb (Robert) Christiansen, Ridgecrest, CA.
