Dorothy Winchester Maughan

OGDEN - Dorothy Winchester Maughan, 84, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. She was born on September 3, 1927 to Ray and Christina Winchester in Ogden, Utah. She resided in Ogden her whole life graduating from Ogden High School and Weber State College in 1947.

Dorothy married Clark Maughan in Ogden on August 13, 1963.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She worked as an Executive Assistant to the President of Browning Arms for 49 years before retiring. She enjoyed being on the ski patrol at Snowbasin. She loved to golf and garden. She enjoyed going camping and hiking whenever she could. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress and knitter. She was a friend to many and a great cook who loved to cook for others. She played the violin and piano very well.

Dorothy is survived by her niece, Nancy (Rory) Williams; grandnephew, Robert (Ame); grandniece, Stephanie (Patrick); great-grandnieces, Brooke, Addysen, Cassidy and great-grandnephew, Reese.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Carol Sanford.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Brookside Animal Hospital, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation or Ducks Unlimited.
