Mom passed away at her home with her family by her side on December 28, 2013. She was born on January 27, 1932 in Faith, South Dakota to Charles and Anna Voss. She was the youngest child out of 9. She graduated from Ogden High School and married Buford “Mac” McQuiddy in Ogden at her parent’s home on September 10, 1949.

Mom and Dad were blessed with three sons and one daughter, Chuck (RaVonna) McQuiddy, Twila McQuiddy, Gary McQuiddy, and Clint (Tauttanni) McQuiddy, nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Together as a family they loved to camp, boat, water ski, hunt and they built a cabin in the Uinta’s where they loved snowmobiling and riding dirt bikes.

Dorothy worked for the IRS and later for HAFB until she retired. She loved her job at HAFB and the lifetime friendships she still has today.

After retirement they bought property in Big Water, UT so they could be close to the water, where they could boat and water ski. Her greatest times there was taking the grandkids and teaching them to water ski.

After Mac’s death, she was fortunate on Valentine’s Day 2003 to marry Charles Hurley. She loved the time they spent together traveling and from this marriage added seven stepchildren and their families.

Mom was a great cook “IF” she wanted to be, she made the best sourdough pancakes and bread. Her apple pies were her specialty. She loved to read and always had a book in her hands. She taught us all to love the water and how to water ski.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Chuck, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a very special brother, Orville Voss; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac; grandchildren, Travis McQuiddy, Marie McQuiddy Daley, and Nakysha Campbell; her parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. At her request, Dorothy will be cremated.

As a family we would like to express our love and thanks to Clint and Taut McQuiddy, Al and Debbie Bahr, and Hospice for Utah – Stephanie, Brooke, Trisha, Debbie, Lily, and Chaplin Kevin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice for Utah in Dorothy’s memory.
