Dorothy W. Moss
SOUTH OGDEN – Dorothy Walton Johnson Moss, 86, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at her home of causes incident to age.
She was born April 6, 1922 in Ogden, a daughter of Arthur W. and Elizabeth Walton Johnson.
On June 13, 1943, Dorothy married her eternal sweetheart, Moyle S. Moss in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 13, 1944. They have enjoyed 65 wonderful years together.
She was a lifelong resident of the Ogden area and a graduate of Weber High School.
Dorothy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served as a Young Women’s President, Primary Counselor, Relief Society Counselor, Visiting Teacher, Visiting Teacher Coordinator, and served an Area Mission with her husband.
She served on the PTA and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s service station. She worked many years and retired from the Ogden I.R.S.
Mom loved music and would frequently break into a song. She also loved to quilt and was always working on a quilt in her living room. She enjoyed crocheting, playing games and was the family Yahtzee champion. Dorothy loved poetry, music, camping, spending time with her family and was known for sharing humorous readings throughout her community. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was dearly loved in return.
Surviving are her husband, Moyle, of South Ogden; seven daughters, Pam (Wayne) Farr, Heber City; Tam (John) Cypers, Riverdale; Marilyn (Manuel) Cypers, South Ogden; Luann (Loy) Brown, Cedar City; Bev (Stephen) Nye, Syracuse; Lynette (Allen) Webb, Layton; Barbara (Lance) Harper, Ogden; 64 grandchildren and spouses, and 87 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Frank Johnson, Ogden; Irene (Curt) Gardiner, Huntsville.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents, two brothers, Raymond Johnson and Arthur Johnson, and her sister, Edith Haring.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Burch Creek 5th Ward Chapel, 4955 Adams Avenue.
Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Ward Chapel 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
