She was born November 18, 1933 in Moab, Utah the daughter of William Richard and Neta Washburn Young.

Dorothy married Otto Nowland on October 2, 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 3, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Hobbs Creek Ward, 2500 No. Church Street, Layton. Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Monday from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
