OGDEN – Dorothy Mary Rohling O’Brien, 92, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Legacy Village of Ogden with family by her side. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dorothy was born on September 11, 1925, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, one of seven children of Beata and Theodore Rohling. She graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud. As a young woman she traveled west to Utah where she met and married Raymond James (Ray) O’Brien on September 29, 1949.
She worked for 34 years at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator, retiring in 1978. For many years she and Ray enjoyed summers at Bear Lake with family and friends. When grandsons came along, she and Ray really enjoyed doting on them. She lived in the same house in Washington Terrace for over 50 years, where she enjoyed close friendships with many valued neighbors. She was a volunteer at Ogden Regional Hospital.
She has three children; Beverly (Steve) O’Brien-Bell, Bob (Renee) O’Brien, Mary Jo (Lynn) Moulding; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray; her parents; sisters, Ramona Rohling and Erma Sauer; and brothers Don, Bud, Carl, and Melvin. She is survived by brother and sisters-in-law Bob and Marge O’Brien, Alice Della Vecchia, and Marie (Bud) Rohling.
Dorthy’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of her caregivers, including the staffs of Fairfield Village of Layton and Legacy House of Ogden; and especially to the health providers at AMG Senior Medical Group, Inspiration Home Health, and Simbii Hospice.
