Dorothy June Park
Dorothy June Park, age 88, mom, grandma and great-grandma passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Family Tree Assisted Living center.
She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 20, 1922. She was the oldest child of Martin W. and Eva Benson Smith. Dorothy was raised and educated in Council Bluffs graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1941.
Dorothy married Charles E. Harvey Jr. on December 25, 1941, he passed away in November 1951. She became owner and operator of the Ace Taxicab Co.
She moved to Utah and married William C. Park in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3, 1953. They lived in Clearfield their entire lives. Bill passed away in June 1990. They enjoyed traveling, visiting family members and playing games with family. Dorothy always enjoyed going for rides in the mountains with her sons and enjoying the outdoors. She especially enjoyed watching her great-grandchildren play soccer games and other sports.
Dorothy helped support her missionary sons by working at Stimsons Market as a cashier and checker for 20 years retiring in 1984.
She was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a very strong testimony of Jesus Christ and served as President and Counselor of the Relief Society and Young Womens MIA, Stake Missionary, coordinator of stake baptisms for the dead, ward genealogy specialist, name extractor and visiting teacher.
Surviving are her four sons, Terry (Ann), West Point; Jerry (JoLene), Hooper; George (Ellen), Roy; John (Terri), Layton; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Virginia Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brothers George W. Smith, Albert L. Tague, sister Virginia Mae Cook and brother-in-law Ross Park. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Clearfield Stake Center, 935 So. State Street. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Clearfield Mortuary, 1050 South State Street and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 at the church. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road, So. Ogden.
