Dorothy Reid Parry
FRUIT HEIGHTS – Our dear sweet wonderful, patient, kind, awesome mom, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend graduated to be with dad and her family on Friday, December 26, 2014. Mom turned 91 on October 1, 2014.
She was born in 1923 in Hinkley, Utah the 13 th of 13 to Thomas and Edith Haynes Reid. She was a miracle birth. Mom grew up in Salt Lake City and was the youngest member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at age 17.
She joined the Navy to be a nurse in WWII. After she was honorably discharged and after the war ended she met dad and they were married in the Manti Temple on May 1, 1946 to Gomer H. Parry. They had eight wonderful children and they can all be together again as a family.
Dorothy served in many callings from Primary, Scouts, Relief Society and Visiting Teacher. Mom and dad served a mission in Big Bear Lake California in 1989.
She loved singing, reading, writing journals, stories and poems. She also loved oil painting, studying the scriptures and her loving family.
Surviving are her sons, Lloyd (Virginia) Parry, Layton; Tim (Debbie) Parry, Clearfield; Ladd (Georgette), Chandler, AZ; Don (Kumja) Parry, Murray/St. George; Steven (Diane) Parry, Kearns, Ted (Debbie) Parry, Kaysville; daughters, Marcia (Wayne) Mackay, West Jordan; Rebecca Parry, Fruit Heights; 26 grandchildren, and over 50 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, 12 brothers and sisters and her husband.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Hidden Valley Ward Chapel, 901 South Main Street, Kaysville. Friends may visit family Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
