Dorothy Pedersen 1923-2012 Dorothy Eleanor Manning Randall Pedersen passed quietly away April 16, 2012, in Layton, Utah. She was a sweet gentle friend to all and her smile and wit will be missed. Dorothy was born July 21, 1923 in Farmington, Utah the eldest daughter of Murlen C and Eleanor Hess Manning. Eleanor died when Dorothy was 9 years old; however there was a special bond between them and Dorothy often felt her mother’s presence. On July 16 1940, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Eugene Thomas Randall, and had 3 precious babies in 4 years. Tom and Dorothy later divorced and she married Alfred Lawrence Pedersen, January 20, 1946 and had 5 more beautiful children. The Pedersen family moved to Canada in 1963. Dorothy loved to serve. Throughout her life she was a volunteer in dozens of organizations. Some of her favorites were the Indian Friendship Society, Child Development Center and the Multi-Cultural Folkfest, held each year in Kelowna British Columbia. Dorothy loved her Heavenly Father and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in numerous callings. Dorothy is survived by her brother Derrel Manning (Doris) and sister Marilyn Marsh (Karl), sister-in-law Ann Manning (Olean), daughter-in-law Jolaine Randall (Val), children Dennis (Joyce), Kurt (Deborah), Glen, Connie (Brian), Karen, David, 16 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Dorothy and Al fostered numerous children both in Utah and Canada. She is preceded in death by her mother and father Eleanor Hess and Murlen C Manning , husband Alfred Lawrence Pedersen, brother Olean Hess Manning, sons Thomas Gary Randall, and Val Murlen Randall and daughter-in-law Jeanie Ricks Randall. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:00a.m., in the Rock Chapel, 25 S. 200 E. Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30a.m. to 10:30a.m., prior to the service. Interment in the Farmington City Cemetery.
