Joane Perkins
KAYSVILLE – Dorothy Joane Young Perkins, age 73 slipped peacefully from this life on Saturday, January 12, 2008. At the time of her death she was surrounded by many who loved her dearly and returned to Heaven to the arms of loved ones there.
Born to Anthony W. Young and Vera Mae Richins on June 8, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she was the youngest of three daughters.
Joane graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1953, where she met and fell in love with John Newton Perkins. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 27, 1953. Together, they were blessed with 5 sons, and 1 daughter: Steve (Carol) Perkins, Gerald (Donna) Perkins, Gloria Perkins, Ken Perkins, AJ (Kim) Perkins, and David (Joanne) Perkins.
In Joane’s own words: “All I ever wanted in life was to be married in the Temple and to have children. So I am 100% blessed in fulfilling my dreams. I have been blessed with a good and worthy husband and with 5 sons and 1 daughter. An added bonus is 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild (and 1 on the way). As you look to the East at the beautiful, high, rugged, majestic mountains known as the Wasatch Front there is a little known fact that I must share with you. These mountains are mine! If you don’t believe me ask any one of my grandchildren.” She was at home in Utah. She loved it here.
Joane loved her family more than life. She served them in every way she could, and loved cooking for them.
Joane is survived by her husband of 54 years, four sons, one daughter, grandchildren and countless friends who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald Henry Perkins.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Twin Falls Cemetery, Twin Falls, Idaho. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.
The family sincerely wishes to thank all for their outpouring of love and support. We know you are as honored to have known Joane as we are to call her Mother.
