Dorothy Streeter Porter, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Washington Terrace Health Services.
She was born April 11, 1925 in Ucon, Idaho to Neil Piepgras and Vera Simmons.
On August 25, 1943, Dorothy married Kenneth Roger Porter in Ogden, Utah. They raised their family in Clearfield and moved to Syracuse in 1976.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings including the Primary, Cub Scouts and the Young Women''s program. She also served as a Temple Worker in the Ogden Temple and served a service mission in Nashville, TN.
Dorothy worked as a telephone operator and a dental assistant.
She was very talented in art work, oil painting, china painting and porcelain dolls. She loved spending time with her family camping, fishing and visiting at Bear Lake. She put a lot of time and effort into the cabin at Bear Lake.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Kenneth; their children, two sons, Michael Dee (MaryLyn) Porter, Layton; Stephen Jay (Kathe) Porter, Salt Lake City; a daughter, Cheryl P. (Tim) Gleason, Brigham City; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one son, Kent L. Porter and one brother, Orson L. Streeter.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Syracuse 1st Ward Chapel, 2500 West 700 South.
Friends and family may call Sunday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
