LAYTON - Dorothy Richardson, 71, was called home to heaven, Thursday, January 31, 2019.

She leaves behind the love of her life, best friend and husband of 54 years; Tom Richardson, Layton, Utah; daughter; Christine (Mike) Maki, Clinton, Utah; son; Kevin Richardson, Murray, Utah; brothers; Rodney Wardle, Preston, Idaho; Elwin (Lori) Wardle, Tremonton, Utah; Richard Wardle, Tremonton, Utah; sisters; Linda (Dean) Thompson, Layton, Utah; Laura (Verl) Moon, Layton, Utah; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Dorothy was the daughter of Larna Leholm and Elwin Wardle.  She was born Thursday, March 20, 1947, in Ogden, Utah.  Growing up was the oldest of seven children.  At a very young age she learned to take care of people.  She had a way of making people feel loved.  She always put others needs before her own.  Anywhere Dorothy went she ran, she was always in a hurry to find the next person in need and offer her love and support. She had a heart of pure gold and was incredibly strong.  She withstood all of life’s challenges, she never complained and always put others first.

Dorothy attended Davis High School, during this time she met a boy from another school.  He turned out to be the love of her life, Tom Richardson.  They were married on Friday, October 9, 1964 in Layton, Utah.  Together they raised three children, the love they had for each other grew exponentially every year.

Dorothy was an active, worthy member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in the nursery and library.  Dorothy had many talents, she loved craft projects, flower arrangements, camping and vacationing with her family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, DaWayne Richardson, mother, Larna Leholm, father, Elwin Wardle, step-father, Erling Leholm, and brother, Keith Wardle.

The family would like to thank the staff at the University of Utah Hospital.  The treatment provided to Dorothy was outstanding.  We would especially like to thank Erin, the love she showed is greatly appreciated by the family.
