Dorothy Jean Marchant Simpson

July 28, 1944 ~ June 24, 2017

Dorothy Jean Marchant Simpson, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, left her earthly life Saturday, June 24, 2017. She was preceded in in death by her husband, Thomas Simpson; her parents, Albert G. and Dorothy M Marchant, and four brothers Richard, Mathew, William and John Marchant.

Dorothy Jean was born July 28, 1944 in Roosevelt, Utah. She was the fifth child and first girl for her parents. She moved to Ogden with her family in the spring of 1959. She graduated from Ben Lomond High School and later attended Weber State College, where she earned her Associate's degree. She was employed as an L.P.N., working primarily in geriatric care. Dorothy loved gardening, sewing, quilting and needle work. She was kind, compassionate, generous and loving to all who knew her. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and she was an active member of the L.D.S. Church. She served in the Relief Society as a teacher and she also served in the Young Women’s Organization.

She had been living in Missouri where she made many meals for the missionaries. She liked Genealogy and worked doing name extractions, weekly. She also enjoyed attending the temple and reading her scriptures.

Dorothy is survived by her sisters Donna Kenley, Linda Blair, Carol Morrice and Joyce Howell; brothers Ralph (Sherry), Albert K (Lauri), and Lynn Marchant; children Paula (Richard) Wardell, Shauna (Paul) Montoya, Linda (Brendon) Gallego, Michael (Tammi) , and Daniel (Heather) Marchant; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family.

A Memorial Service in her honor will be held Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., at the Clinton 13th Ward Chapel, 1708 W. 800 N., with a visitation to be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Cremation is under the direction of Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary.
