Dorothy Ford Johnstun Stanton

KAYSVILLE a" Dorothy Ford Johnstun Stanton passed away Saturday March 29, 2008, at the Orchard Cove Care Center in Bountiful, Utah, from causes incident to age. Born April 5, 1920 in Provo, Utah to Jesse James and Alphretta Gordon Wilkins.
Following the death of her parents in 1928, Dorothy was adopted and raised by Wilbur Ashworth and Florence Titcomb Ford in Lehi, Utah.
Married William Sharp Smith on April 9, 1937 in Salt Lake City. To this marriage were born three children: Gordon, Donald, and Karen. Later divorced. Married George Albert Vincent on March 14, 1945 in Salt Lake City. To this union were born four sons: Donald Albert, Clair Ford, Larry George, and Byron George. Later divorced. Married Jesse Robert Johnstun on June 30, 1966 in Kaysville, Utah. This marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 17, 1971. After being widowed for over nine years, Dorothy married Reed Stanton on January 2, 1984. Later divorced.
Dorothy lived a full life and enjoyed many interests and talents. Formerly a member of the Silver Spurs Riding Club, she rode her horse, Rusty, many times in the "Days of 47" Parade. She was admired by many for her beautiful flower gardens and immaculate yard. She also sewed and crocheted lovely things for her home. Dorothy was a gifted pianist and organist and fondly remembered taking lessons on the Tabernacle Organ. A member of the Kaysville 8th Ward for many years, Dorothy served in various callings, including her favorite calling as Primary pianist for 25 years.
Survived by five sons: Gordon Smith of Farmington; Donald (Cindy) Vincent of Taylorsville; Clair (Linda) Vincent of Pleasant Grove; Larry (Amy) Vincent of Grand Haven, Michigan; and Byron (Laura) Vincent of Kaysville; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by one natural brother, Allen Chipman, of Medford, Oregon. Preceded in death by two children, Karen Whitt and Donald Smith.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Rock Chapel, 200 East Center Street. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the many skilled caregivers at Orchard Cove for their gentle and compassionate service to Dorothy in her declining months.
