Dorothy Rose Vander Meyden
1919-2021
Dorothy Rose Vander Meyden was born on the 10th of August 1919 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away on the 3rd of March 2021 at the advanced age of 101 years old in Centerville, Utah.
She was the daughter of Sidney E. and Doris E. Rose. She was raised in Centerville on her father’s fruit farm along with her older brother Francis and younger sister Helen. It was on this farm that she learned how to work and understand the importance of family.
She graduated from Davis High School and always lamented the fact that she could not afford to go to college. From an early age she loved to read and learned as much as she could. She was an extremely bright lady who cared about the world she lived in.
She met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Vander Meyden at a dance in Salt Lake City. They were married on the 2nd of September 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Bob passed away in October 1994.
Bob and Dorothy are the parents of two children, Rosalyn (Tibby) Meservy (Jerry) and R. Merrill VanderMeyden (Linda). They had 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings, and a grandson (Mark Brown).
She was a remarkable woman and was loved by all who knew her.
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 8th, at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East in Bountiful, Utah, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 9th, at the Centerville 7th Ward Chapel, 270 North 300 East in Centerville, Utah. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Masks will be required and social distancing observed.
