Douglas Bannister
LAYTON – Doug Bannister, 71, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010.
He was born July 9, 1938 in Middlebury, Vermont, the son of Kenneth and Augusta Bannister.
Doug served in the U.S. Air Force. He then moved to Utah where he was a member of the local sheet metal workers union, working for Arbuckles and many other union companies retiring after 38 years of service.
Doug was married to Ronda Wilson who brought to their marriage a son and soon after they had a son of their own. Together they made his life complete. He and Ronda where later divorced but they remained the best of friends.
During his life he enjoyed bowling and playing golf.
Doug was from a large family of ten children and had many friends all of who he would have done anything for. But most of all he loved his sons and their families.
During his retirement Doug was completely dedicated to his grandchildren who where his whole world. They will deeply miss their “Poppy”, his drive-bys and their trips to the dollar store.
Doug is survived by his sons Brody (Carolyn) Bannister, Layton, UT; Kevin (Tiffany) Trader, Kuna, ID; his grandchildren Colby, Siara, Aspen, Cody and Jeannie, six sisters and a brother.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and his parents.
Friends may visit family on Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
Inurnment will be held at the Catholic Cemetery in Brandon, Vermont.
