Doug passed away from an accidental fall on Thursday September 15, 2016.

He was born December 14, 1955 in Ogden, Utah to Francis Basil and Maurine Tatton Bown. He graduated from Clearfield High School in 1974.

Doug married his high school sweet heart Shellie Kendall on June 6, 1975. Shortly after marriage he served four years in the US Air Force at Laughlin Air Force Base. Upon honorable discharge he returned to Utah to start his career in custom woodwork and cabinetry. Doug was known for his expertise in his trade and his congenial attitude to his customers, friends, and all who knew him.

He enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors and also had a passion for cooking for them.

He was a well loved man to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him and will be deeply missed.

Doug is survived by his wife of 41 years, daughters, Stephanie (Cody) Robinson, Megan Bown, and son, Jason (Laura) Bown, three grand children, Shelbee and Morgan Robinson, Mavrick Bown, his mother Maurine Bown (Roy), father and mother-in-law, Sheldon and Conolyn Kendall (Star Valley, Wyoming), sisters, Bonnie (Frank) Swapp (Kanab), Vickie Williams (Roy), and Sherie King (Clinton) and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father.

A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 1st from 12-4pm at 45 North 3000 West, West Point, Utah. We would like to thank all the staff at the University of Utah Hospital for their compassion and support.
