Douglas Donald Carty, age 68, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Doug was born on February 23, 1956, and he lived a life rich with experiences and passions.
On June 24, 2000, Douglas married the love of his life, Natalie Hutchison in Ogden, Utah. Their marriage was later sealed in the Ogden Temple, October 20, 2001.
A dedicated construction technician for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), Doug devoted 30 years of his career to building and improving the infrastructure that connects communities. His technical expertise was complemented by his love for learning, he was a graduate of Bonneville High School and a student at Weber State University, where he majored in Geology.
Doug's love for geology was matched only by his enthusiasm for travel. He found joy in exploring nature's beauty at destinations such as Red Fish Lake, Maui, St. George, and throughout Europe. Doug embraced an active lifestyle, relishing skiing and hiking, often alongside his wife, Natalie Carty, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. Riding electric bikes together was just one of the many adventures they enjoyed as partners in life.
An individual of deep faith, Doug was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He honored his Priesthood and magnified his various callings within the church. From being a Primary teacher to serving as a High Priest and home teacher, Doug embraced the opportunity to serve others and share his beliefs.
Doug leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Natalie, his brother, Steven Carty, mother-in-law, Kate Hutchison, brothers-in-law, Doug Hutchison, Mark Hutchison, Ron Rhees, sisters-in-law, Valerie Rhees, Sandy Hutchison, Cindy Carty. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, who will carry forward his memory. Among his special friends, Dale and Marty who were particularly dear to him.Doug is preceded in death by his father, William Donald Carty, his mother, Dorothy Cardon, father-in-law, Paul C. Hutchison, his sister, niece and nephew, Rachel Carty and Joshua Carty. Their presence is felt deeply, and their memories will forever be a part of Doug's legacy.
His kindness, laughter, and unwavering spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Doug Carty’s life was a gift to many, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
In honor of Doug's wishes, no formal services will be held.
