Douglas Lee Dayley

OGDEN a€" Douglas Lee Dayley, 82, was surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, November 25, 2012, when he passed away from injuries sustained in a tragic auto accident.

Doug was born on April 18, 1930 to Chauncey Lee Dayley and Gladys Nate on April 18, 1930 in Ogden.

He graduated from Ogden High School in 1948. He served his country in the Air Force from 1950 to 1954. During his service years he married Carol M. Hook in 1951 and together they had 4 children. They later divorced but remained close through the years. As a young entrepreneur he moved his family from Utah in the early 60''s to Hawaii. He returned to Utah in the 1970''s and was owner operator of The Iron Horse and Oak Tree private clubs in Ogden.

Doug was a wonderfully exceptional human being. His sense of humor was a gift that tickled the funny bone of all who knew him. He was an avid golfer and was particularly pleased on Father''s Day 1976 when he hit his first hole in one while 2 of his daughters were visiting from California. He was never shy to show affection and always made those around him know how much he treasured them. He will always live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Dad will be missed by his four children, Susan (Ron) Dimattia, Dorre (James) Maki, James (Penny) Dayley and JoAnn (Marc) Lachance; 10 grandchildren, Jake, Noelle, Shane, Chelsea, Gavin, Alyssa, Kaylee, Felisha, Julia and Chantel; 2 great-grandsons, Kohen and Kroften; 3 brothers, Alan, Melvin, Leland; 2 sisters, Karen and Darlene and numerous nieces and nephews who all adored him. We want to give special appreciation to his constant companion and best friend Audrey Hymas who has been by his side for many years and her son''s Steven, Curt and David.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Lila Dayley.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the mortuary.
