Douglas L. Lyon Douglas L. Lyon, 86, died peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2010, in South Ogden, UT. Doug was born August 13, 1923 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Mauda and Sullivan Lyon, and graduated from Arkansas City High School. He entered the Navy in 1942, and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He married Emily Pinzka in San Francisco on December 2, 1945; Emily died in 1978. They had a son, Dennis (Kathy) Lyon, of Layton, UT. Doug married Aline Tait on December 28, 1983, in Zion, Illinois; Aline died in 1996. Doug had continuous membership in Masonic organizations since 1954. He was a Lodge Master 3 times, Governor of the Kenosha (WI) York Right College (YRC) #38, was Associate Regent of Sovereign YRC of North America, a member of the York Right Cross Honor Illinois Priory, a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, a member of the White Shrine Jerusalem, and Eastern Star. Doug served 20 years in the Navy, and then worked for Abbot Labs in Waukegan, IL until his retirement in 1984. He lived in Zion, IL until 1990, then Colorado Springs, CO. He moved to Mountain Ridge Assisted Living, South Ogden, UT in late 2004. Doug is survived by his son Dennis Lyon and wife Kathy of Layton, UT, step-daughter Carol A. Brown of Lake Monticello, VA, and step-son William E. Tait of Fall Creek, WI. There are nine step-grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Interment, with military honors, will be at Memory Gardens, Arlington Heights, IL, with his first wife Emily. According to his wishes there will be no memorial service. The family wishes to thank the residents and staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living for their care and friendship. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice, or the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children, 2211 N. Oak Park Drive, Chicago, IL, 60635. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
