Douglas Allen Mathewson

Douglas Allen Mathewson, 81, passed away peacefully at George E. Wahlen Ogden Veteran Home at 3:22 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016.

Born in Ogden Utah, Doug graduated from Ogden High School and attended the University of Utah.  He served in the Finland, Helsinki Mission from 1955 to 1958 and upon his return he married Sharon K. Sant in the Logan Utah LDS Temple in 1958.  He served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army with the 30th Artillery. He graduated with a Master’s Degree from BYU and received a Doctorate of Higher Education from the University of Denver.  He spent most of his career teaching and in college administration in Colorado, Wisconsin, and Nevada.

Doug was born to Stanley and Ellenora (Leth) Mathewson on December 8, 1934. He is survived by his brother, Donald (Charlene) of Ogden, Utah; four children, Kyle (Karrie) of South Weber, Utah; Sidney (Byron) Thorsen of Arlington, Texas; Linda (Brett) Young Aurora, Ohio; and Elizabeth (Darin) Christensen of Falls Church, Virginia; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon in 2002.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
