OGDEN - Douglas Browning Stephens, 85, died Friday, November 12, 2010.
He was born August 24, 1925 in Ogden, Utah to John Pincock and Hazel Browning Stephens. He graduated from Weber High School.
On June 24, 1945, Doug married Elaine Russell. Together they had three children, Dixie (Gary) Gibson, Ogden; Leslie (Terry) Field, Grand View, ID; and Bruce (Debbie) Stephens, Ogden.
He was a cattleman, rancher, land developer, banker, entrepreneur and visionary. He had many successful businesses and could see opportunity everywhere. Those who knew him will know of his many accomplishments too numerous to list.
Doug started Pleasant Valley Ranch, as a young man, and eventually began raising Chiangus cattle that won many awards at stock shows in Denver and Dallas. Most of his ranch was later developed into the cities of South Ogden and Washington Terrace. He was on the Board of Directors of the Bank of Utah for many years.
He is survived by his wife and children, nine grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel James, Cincinnati, OH.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and one great-grandchild, Katie Field.
Private family services were held Wednesday, November 17th, 2010. The family respectfully suggests donations to the Weber County Library Development Fund, 2464 Jefferson, Ogden, Utah 84401.
