1925 ~ 2018

Doyle Carlos Egan was born November 19, 1925, in his family home to Carlos R and Olive Homer Egan in Nibley, (Cache County), Utah.  His eight years of elementary school was in Millville, Utah.  He went to South Cache High School where he graduated in 1943.

In the fall of 1943, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp.  He was a radio operator on a C-47 Aircraft.  He spent three years in the service; the last year was in Germany.  Upon his return home he met Shirley Peterson and they were married in The Logan Utah Temple on March 26, 1947.  They spent 71 wonderful years together.

Doyle was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in several leadership positions.  He sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 22 years.  18 of those years his wife was also in the choir.  He and his wife served a mission for the LDS Church in 1983-84 in the London Temple.  They served for 14 years in the St. George Temple where he was a temple sealer.  He was honored to seal many of his grandchildren in various Temples.  He loved his family very much and would do anything for them.

He and Shirley had five very special children who gave him 24 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.  He loved music and working with wood.  In 1981 he and his wife started spending their winters in St. George and they learned to love the game of golf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jack Egan, and his grandson Brian Bitner.  He is survived by his wife Shirley Peterson Egan, three daughters Kathy (Ned) Jensen, Marilyn (Alan) Bitner, Debra Ann (Marc) Halley and two sons, Robert (Jean) Egan, Bradley (Mikalyn) Egan, and his wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Peacefield Ward Chapel, 1590 E. Gentile St., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church
