Dr. Milton F. Wilcox 1920-2010
OGDEN - Dr. Milton Farr Wilcox passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 of causes incident to age.
He was born March 26, 1920 in Ogden, Utah to John Milton and Norma Farr Wilcox. He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. He completed two years of pre-med at Weber State University.
He married Eva Jean Morris on September 3, 1943. In 1975 they were sealed for eternity in the Washington D.C. Temple.
He served in the Philippines in WWII as a flight surgeon and graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1945. He was an anesthesiologist at St. Benedict''s Hospital for almost 40 years. He kept going on 36 hour shifts by turning to his favorite food groupa"chocolate. A Hershey bar and a Coke were often this doctor''s lunch.
He enjoyed all sports, both playing and watching. He golfed, skied, and with years of league experience, bowled his way to a 300 game. The entire family had fun with him on his ski boat. He loved gardening and it showed in the beautiful yard he designed and maintained.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony and loved to read and study the gospel. He enjoyed study groups and sharing that knowledge with his family.
He is survived by his wife Eva Jean, daughters Leslie Wilcox-Hegstrom, Pam (Greg) O''Toole, Debbie Allen, Jonathan (Cheryl) Wilcox, Lisa Wamsley, 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
The family thanks the Burch Creek Homecare nurses and the staff at Legacy House for their kindness and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or charity of your choice.
