Our incredible husband and father,Dr. Walter Louis Schlegel, passed away on Saturday, May 25th, 2024. He was 91 ¾ years old and proud of his long life.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Myrna, and a great posterity. With 5 biological, 3 adopted, and 7 step-children, he considered himself father to 15, along with 59 grandchildren (who affectionately call him Grandpa Quack Quack), 52 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren…and more on the way!
He loved learning and earned 4 degrees, including a Bachelor’s degree from BYU and a Doctorate from the University of Northern Colorado.
He served in the military for 15 years as both a bomber pilot and clinical laboratory manager.
He loved to build, and the favorites of his many projects included his dream cabin he built in his retirement and 5 boats.
He served three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Myrna and was diligent in doing family history work.
He loved and was loved by his rescue dogs and was happiest when he was on the lake fishing. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, frugality, faithfulness, and perseverance, along with a healthy appreciation for chocolate.
A Memorial will be held in his honor on Tuesday, June 4th at 11 am at Lindquist Mortuary at 400 Main St., Kaysville, Utah. To watch the livestream, go to lindquistmortuary.com and scroll to the bottom of his obituary page.
