Dr. V. Kay Kendell

November 13, 1925 ~ April 20, 2015

Vern Kay Kendell passed away at his home on April 20, 2015. He was born on November 13, 1925 in South Weber, Utah, to John Wilkinson and Myrle Dean Francom Kendell. Kay was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked hard from an early age and was able to achieve much through his determination and perseverance.

Kay served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He graduated from Colorado A&M, Fort Collins, with a Bachelor’s degree.  He then earned a Doctorate of Veterinarian Medicine in 1956. He returned to Ogden and opened Kendell Veterinary Hospital where he practiced until his retirement in 1994.

Kay married Margaret Jeanne Thiriot and they raised four children together. They later divorced. As a family they enjoyed snow skiing, boating, and spending time at the cabin on Bear Lake. Kay moved to Young, AZ in 1999, where he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own cattle ranch.

Kay is survived by his children, Robert (Debbie) Kendell, Mary Ann (Kelvin) Leete, Susan Kendell, and Patricia (Mitch) Robison; sister, Donna Cornia; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
