Dr. Warren Brady Schouten returned to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 7, 2014 due to the effects of Parkinson’s Disease.  He was born to John and VonDella Brady Schouten on September 11, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He spent most of his early years in Springville, Utah.  He married his high school sweetheart, Louise Ekker, on June 8, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  He was the proud father of a son and a daughter, Dr. James Warren Schouten and Patty Schouten Murphy.

He was a devoted lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the divinity of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He was a High Priest in the Pleasant Valley 3 rd Ward.  He always liked the assignments where he could work behind the scenes.  In addition to many callings, his favorite was serving as Executive Secretary to four bishops.

Warren enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, and camping.  He also loved to travel, and he and his wife had visited many countries throughout the world.  His favorite joy was camping with his family in their travel trailer in Yellowstone and Teton National Parks, and in the High Uintas.  He had many diversified interests and enjoyed season tickets to the BYU football games as well as to the Utah Symphony Concerts.

Warren was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and was a great example to his family.  He was always proud of his family’s many accomplishments.  He was a kind, gentle, soft spoken man and had that special smile for everyone.

Warren is survived by his wife, Louise of South Ogden and two children, Dr. James (Ruth) Schouten of Payson, AZ; and Patty (Michael) Murphy of South Weber, UT. He has eight grandchildren, Lucy, Katie, Anna, and Lydia Schouten, and Jackson, Kaitlyn, Austin, and Carson Murphy.  He is also survived by three brothers, Ronald W. (Doreene) Schouten of Sandy, UT; Dr. Robert D. (Ellen) Schouten of Damascus, OR; William D. (Vicki) Schouten of St. George, UT; a sister, Mary Frederick of Hillsboro, OR; and a sister-in-law, Carolyn (Jim) Ormond of West Haven, UT.  He is also survived by two brothers-in-law, John G Ekker, Jr. of Springville, UT and James H. (Linda) Ekker of Vernon, UT; and many nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.
