Duane Thomas John

Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Duane Thomas John, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2014.  He was born on March 8, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to Thomas and Frances Alvord John.  He grew up in Ogden and lived there most of his life.

He joined the Marine Corps in 1944 and served in World War II.

Duane married Sharon Nebeker on September 29, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

He started and built a nursery business and a gunsmithing shop in Ogden.  Duane also worked as an Engineer for Thoikol, Western Zirconium, and Marquardt.

Duane enjoyed skiing, gunsmithing, hunting and working in his nursery with his wife Sharon.

Duane is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; sons, Tom John, Fred John, Jeff Farr, Asael Farr, and Phillip Farr; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Frances John and daughter, Annette John.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 3 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary 3408 Washington Blvd.
