Duane Hyrum Johnson

Duane Hyrum Johnson, 87, passed away Friday September 11, 2009 in Ogden.

He was born September 17, 1921 in Georgetown, Idaho to Hyrum Larsen and Loe Riley Johnson.

He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, where he was a member of the 1st Marine Division and 1st Tank Battalion, where he earned two Purple Hearts which he never received.

On June 14, 1942, he married Jean Hayes. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Jean preceded him in death on August 24, 2002.

Throughout his life he enjoyed fishing and camping. Later in life he was an avid reader.

Duane is survived by two daughters, Judy Marie (Ken) Wilkes, Eagle, ID; Loe "Kaye" Freeland, Layton; two sons, Steven (Ann) Johnson, Syracuse; Darel "D.J." Johnson, North Ogden; six grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter, Bonnie Jean.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Friends and family may call Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Georgetown Cemetery, Idaho at 4 p.m.
