Duane LaMar Meacham

On the quiet winter night of February 12, 2010, Duane L. Meacham completed his journey here on earth. He was greeted by the many friends and family members who had gone before him. We are sure they are sharing a joyous reunion at this time. After enduring the difficulties associated with diabetes, he is no longer limited by his illness and body. As a family we rejoice with him as he delights in his freedom. His passing was quiet as was hoped by his family.

Duane touched the lives of many people with goodness and service. He spent his life in the service of others and in the service of his Heavenly Father. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served a mission to Northern Mexico and numerous Stake and Ward missions, thereby bringing great blessings to many. He also served in the U.S. Army and was proud to represent our country.

He knew the importance of family which was always his top priority. He married Franciska Ruf on June 22, 1962 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was the father of six children, Scott (Kristi), Shauna (Dave) Johnson, Steve (Kim), Leslie (Jeffrey) Parke, Rebecca (Shane) Pehrson, Jeffrey (Danielle). He also enjoyed the love from 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. These were the most important jewels in his life. He is also survived by his brother, Marvin (Sheila) Meacham and sister, Kay (Bruce) Brennan and numerous nieces and nephews.

In honor of Duane, friends and family are invited to visit on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Huntsville Stake Center, 6500 E. 1900 N. Eden, Utah.

He will be laid to rest in the Kaysville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Duane and Franciska Meacham scholarship fund at the Davis Applied Technology College Foundation.
