Duane Vernile Parsons, 91, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Ogden with his family in attendance. He was born August 13, 1916 in Koosharem, Utah to William and Clara Olsen Parsons.
On November 17, 1936, Vernile married Maritta Anderson in the Manti LDS Temple. He was a devoted and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various callings including, Bishop and High Priest. He served missions in Mexico and South Central America.
Vernile served in the CCC but for most for his life he was general contractor. Vernile was employed by the church as a construction supervisor where he oversaw the building and remodeling of local churches as well as churches in El Salvador, Venezuela, Panama and Mexico.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.
Vernile is survived by two sons, Brad Parsons, Salt Lake City; Duane Jaim Parsons, Syracuse; two daughters, Vernetta Alford Fuller, Clearfield; Belva Ricks, Denver, CO; their spouses and 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his wife, Maritta, in 2001; a son, Elton "Bill" Parsons; an infant daughter; four brothers, and one sister.
The family would like to thank the Mt. Ogden Rehabilitation Center as well as Inspiration Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22nd at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, with Bishop Paul George of the Roy 5th Ward, officiating.
Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
